Most likely porcine since it's so available.

I can see the link to Religion but I'm afraid to say that you may find pork byproducts in many foods that aren't labelled as containing them.

To be honest by the time it gets to the food, the gelatin is sterile so I'm not sure you can consider it unclean.

depends on where the manufacturer is.. American skittles have pork derived gelatin,, but those manufactured in the middle east (kosher or halal) are made with beef or vegetable gelatin..

Thanks for this question, I wouldn't have thought of the association to an animal product. I have known vegetarians who have eaten skittles, I'll bet they never thought of this either.
