I have a heated pitcher thing from Braun that boils water for teas and stuff...if I boil the water, and let it cool, then put in the fridge, does it remove the harmful bacteria and stuff that water filters are designed to remove?

It'll kill off bacteria, but that will be no use if you don't put it in a sterilised bottle as the bottle will have bacteria in it.

It will also taste different to non boiled water.

From newspapers - a 5 min roling boil will kill all - some boil advisories say only 1 or 2 min. depending on local risk factor.Try it, get it tested - but also check to see you like the taste.
In the city I live in I talked to the man collecting a sample at a fire hydrant. He said he drinks city tap water rather than bottled because he knows what is in the city tap water.

No, boiled water is entirely different from bottled water. Bottled water is purified by filtration, germs are removed, minerals are added and other processes are done ,then finally we get this bottled water which is good if the correct amount of minerals and other things are added but boiled water just kills bacteria and other germs but doesn't remove dirt or anything else present in it

Yes. There are many water pitchers that have a filter built right in. This may save you the time of boiling and pouring into another container. You can also purchase filter attachments for your faucet so you always have filtered water.

different bottled waters are purified different ways. some of them are done with heat, but it is a steaming process, but boiling. also, filters remove minerals, boiling will not, it will only kill bacteria. and make sure your containers are sterilized as well. if it's the bacteria you worry about, boiling is fine, but it probably won't taste exactly the same.

Actually it is better than bottled water. I was told by my doctor that if i didnt want to spend money on bottled water that i could boil my water and it would actually be better for you than bottled.

It would remove the bacteria. However any chemicals in the water would still be there.

No. Bottled water is made by reverse osmosis, this removes the minerals. Ozone is used to sterilze it.

boil your own water i belive it is much safer and cheaper....sometimes yu do not know what "other things" are added to the bottled water apart from water.
