Hi All

Well I booked me a great ticket for £395 to Thailand and leave on the 1st Dec,. I arrive in BKK at 06:50. I was about to book myself a plane for 10:30 with Bangkok Airways to Samui and then came accross Air Asia's 9am flight to Surrathani. The ticket costs pennies and I hope a connection boat to Koh Phangan should not be an issue.

The thing is how well do Qatar run their service and has anyone out there arrived at Bangkok new airport at 06:50 and made the connecting 09:00 flight check in by 8:15 to Surrathnai and know what boat options to get me to KPG are like?

Any info would be greatly received.

Thanks in advance-

Chris

To me 2:10 hrs should be more than enough. In most cases 45 to 90 minutes are recommended and you got time to spare. Check with Bangkok airport homepage for their rules or your airlines homepage.
If you're want to play it safe book a ticket where you can change the flight untill departure or later like a Business class ticket. It could also be rekomended not to choose a low fare airline (like ryan air) since they always charge high for any changes. Airlines like Thai and BA will get you to de arrival destination if it is their flight that is late. The best advise is to check with your airline(s) and or your trave agent! Johan

You have enough time for the connection - but remember you have to go thru immigrations and collect your bags in Bangkok (BKK) - then walk to the domestic terminal and check in again for the Surathani flight. Flights arriving via Qatar (or other long-haul places) should be OK and on-time. Not sure how or when you get to the ferry to Samui - but I assume there are dozens of taxis at the Surathani airport that will take you there and give you the time details.

Full moon is Dec 5 - so you should be there for the Samui Full Moon Party that goes on all night!
