There are so many angles to this issue, that it is hard to answer clearly. However, in general, the Republicans have been more against it than for it. Republicans are trying to get the wall built, and republicans have fought hard against illegal immigrants being able to go to state universities at in-state tuition costs. Republicans are also the ones who have pushed for making English as the official Language.
However, Republicans have also purposed a plan that will allow citizens of Mexico to cross our border and work in the U.S. and then return to Mexico. Many Republicans have also fought to make it easy for any illegal alien to become a legal alien without first being deported.
Republicans and Democrats are not polar opposites on this issue. Both want to secure our border and prevent further illegal aliens from entering our country. They just don't agree on how to do this. Both understand that illegal immigrants contribute a major part to the economy in many cities, and that removing them all is probably a bad idea. They just don't agree on what to do with them.
It is a difficult issue, and has no easy answers. Personally, I think we need to make it very easy to immigrate to this country legally, but very difficult to do it illegally, and with severe consequences.

It seems that both parties would sell out the legal American and this country to get votes. The Democrats are pandering to the Mexican American thinking they will acquire a large voting block by the legalization of the illegals that include many from the Latin country's.
Although most legal Hispanics that I have talked to do not want to see the illegal alien given amnesty.
I have carefully researched the candidates that I will vote for next Tuesday.I am voting for the person that holds views closest to mine, not the party.I don't trust either party to keep their election time promises.

The majority of the Republicans are against the illegal immigration into the USA and they are doing something to stop it. In the other hand the Democrats/Liberal are pro amnesty and are doing their best to stop Republicans that are trying to protects our border. There are some Republicans that are with the Democratic Party in this effort. There are also Democrats that are trying to stop the photo ID so the illegals could vote for them in the elections. This is the reason that we as Americans have to watch these politicians that are against the American people.

Frankly, both sides are so convoluted that no one single person really knows what to think.
Neither side is 100% pro-amnesty, or 100% pro-deportation en masse.
We should have been on this tack a long time ago, it's a bit too deep to truly go swimming without political undertows now.
For example : my father still lives in Pennsylvania, and there's a little town there called Harrisburg. One of it's more rural surrounding areas tried passing a law to come down strongly on illegal supporting employers and the ASPCA crapped a golden nugget in protest of the numerous illegals working in the area.
It's interesting to see how organizations like that who do work for the "racially" disrespected have the stupidity to go to bat for an illegal. They're ILLEGAL, are people simply missing that point?
Here's a simple fact, illegal aliens in ANY nation throughout the world are not subject to the rights and legal ciitzen constituents of the nation they're illegal in. They are not citizens of that nation, period....and shouldn't be treated as such.
An example of this : I travel to Japan on a routine basis...and while I do have skills that benefit their society (I can get extended passage this way), I'm not a citizen and in turn subject to them kicking me out for any reason should they so choose.
It should be no different in America....but our government cares more on the image and the vote than they do for the nation itself.

More so democrats, just means more votes for them in the long run, although some republicans do support the legalization of illegal immigrants.

Well, Bush is for amnesty, but also just signed in secure fence act. Truly, no political party is 100% anything. Which is kind of good, because they shouldn't vote based on how their best buddy is voting...they should vote on what the people in the region are wanting...because they represent the people in their region. Sometimes, the regions are so divided that the politician must vote his conscience. Best thing to do is to go and look at the voting record of the politician that represents you or is wanting to represent you. That tells you how they vote rather than what others say about them or what they claim. Their voting record is a fact.

I would have to say it is not a party thing. Most liberals are in favor for legalization of illegal aliens. But there are liberal Democrats and liberal Republicans too.

Democrats have more of a reputation of being bleeding heart liberals, so it's easy to assume that they would be more in favor of legalizing illegal immigrants.
But as a Republican, even I think that either side would sell out our country on this issue if they thought it would get them the votes they want.

Republicans want to legalize the illegals. The commercial you seen was more republican lies and if your getting your info from commercials about any canidates and think any such ads will really tell you where a canidate stands on any issue you had better think again. Go to the canidates web site and read what they hope to accomplish once in office. You won't get any good info from the TV unless you watch Lou Dobbs on CNN, hes the only newscaster unafraid to tell the truth right now.

It depends who is up for election and who need the votes of people who would vote for someone supporting legalization of illegal immigrants. Neither party has members not willing to change their minds to get elected.
