It's not considered heinous. In fact, most of the time I wish we didn't have one--it's such a mind-numbing time guzzler! Growing up, my folks kept it locked up unless we were all going to watch something together as a family or if an important sporting event was on :)--they'd rather see us playing outside or using our imagination for inside play and plus there's so much garbage on. But now I've married someone who's addicted to it so what can I do? We're considering a 12-step program. ;)

That's a personal choice of course but I fail to see the need to abstain from watching TV. Yes, there are lots of things that aren't "Christian" but all you simply have to do is change the channel and watch something else. Why doesn't the same thought go into owning a computer? All kinds of "worldy" things on it, but it's ok to own one? I think people can carry things to extremes. You can take almost anything and either make it good, or bad. Next thing you know someone will say we better not have a refridgerator because someone might think we have beer in it.

It's apparently considered heinous for ANYONE not to own a TV. I have one, but it's usually stuck in the closet because I rarely watch it and I need to space for other stuff, and people freak out--"No TV? What do you DO all day?"

I think it's a personal choice. I know many religious and also not-so-religious people who don't own TV. They spend their time doing more productive things like reading, working and volunteering. I don't think it's a big deal, some people watch TV, and some people don't. I only watch 3 shows on TV, and each of those shows comes one once a week, so I don't watch much TV myself.

I don't think it is heinous, at all. lol Actually, it could be interpreted as a sign of your intellectualism.

Not everyone needs to be spoon fed all the information in this world, that they learn.

I'm sure you have your reasons.....it really doesn't matter what others think. Do what works for you.

There is no harm in owning a tv set or seeing it. Instead of seeing and wasting your precious time u can spend the time in reading the Bible and do some gospel work.

Never heard of such a thing...
Of course giving up TV in favor of Family time, reading and such would not be a bad idea every now and then.
