I was just curious, a women has to go through all the hard part of carrying a child,etc, but they have to take time off work - how do they afford to live or do they actually get money for it?!

They do get paid for the service, no idea how much but I watched a program on ITV once by a woman who had her own children and went on to have another 7 for surrogacy. She said she loved being pregnant and her husband was ok with it. She said she didn't get paid as much as some do but she was also happy to do it to give someone else the chance of being a parent.

The only thing she asked for was a regualar picture every now and then.

The current market price is $ 20,000 plus amenities. Of course, the surrogate moms really got the money because they had to sign in the contracts.

In the UK they cannot claim payment as such but should expect to receive 'expenses' which would cover cost of travel to ante natal appointments, new maternity clothes etc., loss of earnings.

They get paid. They can chose to waive the fee, then the prospective parents will just pay for her time off of work and her medical bills.

Yes you do get paid for it. My cousin and i did it once and we got looked after very well. my cousin even got a brand new car out of the box. So yes, you do get paid. But you have to be emotionaly stable to do something like this.
