I don't think it may effect their own beliefs, but the beliefs of others. For example if you are a Muslim the negativity about Islam on TV does not make you feel negative towards Islam because you know the truth. But if you not a Muslim it may because you don't know the truth and you may trust the media.

I don't know where you're at, but in the U.S. it's definitely true that the media affects people's beliefs more than the religious texts. Very few Christians in this country have bothered to read the bible. They just know what the televangelists on T.V. say and what their preachers say. They have an idea of what their religion is and what it's history is that is hard to reconcile with the bible and Christianity's true history. But this is true of a lot of things. A lot of things get dumbed down when filtered through the media. They cater to the lowest common denominator most of the time.

Yes.
The larger percentage of the educated world take their information from the media. The media is not always impartial or unbiased but, if one does have any common-sense coupled with intelligence, it is possible to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Using the bible or the qoran as a source of information is much like using a telephone directory to explain the theory of relativity.
Both best used as insulation material.

I think so, in many cases. People often get their information about a religion other than their own from TV shows anymore (how many times have I heard people tell witches on here "Too much Charmed"?).

And let's not forget the televised news and the knee-jerk reactions against Muslims...

I use to think that some organized religions were all about making money. After watching some of these TV evangelists in action, I'm now convinced.

books are good source of information but i think most people today read a little because of their everyday routine. media is more practical, not only it says the word of God but it also explains why in less time.
