Perhaps people who embark on this process believe that a child will not experience loss because neither the genetic nor gestational mother are
"wholly" connected to the child. I think that a child created in these circumstances will feel a very deep sense of loss that it does not have a "whole" mother in its life.

Firstly I think its very kind and generous of you think about doing this for a childless couple but please be aware that this is not an easy process. The emotional trauma to yourself and to your family cannot be under estimated. This doesnt just affect you it affects everyone in your life. You will be carefully vetted by any of the organisations out there who deal in surrogacy and this does involve some psychological assessment. Also in the UK it is illegal to accept payment for this service but you will be paid expenses ie trips to the antenatal clinic/hospital , maternity clothes etc.
