Do I need a US transit visa if I will only be staying in the airport and do not need to change planes?

I am not from a VWP country.

Well for starters, if you're transiting, you may not change airlines, but you will most likely change planes. Depends where you're travelling from and to...

As long as you do not come out of airport, you do not require a transit visa.
