I dont think so. Most doctors wont do it if they are young. I'm 23, had 3 births...but 2 alive. I just had my daughter 4 weeks ago..and wanted to get my tubes tied. Or my husband wanted to get snipped. But the doctor told us (in Germany & Delaware) that we were both young. We'd have to wait til our late 20's. But she should look around and ask... some doctors I'm sure will tho.

At the age of19, I think there is a legal issue. I believe in most states the age in which they will allow you to have your tubes tied, unless there is a medical necessity, is 22. Even if it legal to do it under the age of 22, most doctors won't do it anyways. The only way your friend can really find out is by asking an OB/GYN. But if the answer is that she has to wait, there are alternatives methods of birth control. And she may change her mind in the long run anyways. Giving birth to a child that is your own is just an awesome experience, whether it is a natural birth or c-section.

There are plenty of ways to not give birth to a child: don't have sex, use birth control, keep emergency contraception on hand, etc. The only doctor who will perform a sterilization on an operation are doctors you should not be consulting in the first place. At age 19 with no pregnancies, no sane doctor who wants to be free of malpractice suits will do it.

Probably but most GYNs will try to talk her out of it and most will probably not do it. I'm sure though that she will find a doctor willing to take away her ablility to bring life into this world.

I think she will battle to find a reputable doctor to do it. And if she does find one, then I think his reputation, practice and work ethics need to be questioned!!!!

She might find a quack who would do it surreptitiously, but I doubt any reputable physician would do it.
