pores are not a disease of anything like acne...they are simple a feature of the surface of our skin, through which we sweat. you can't get rid of them, but you can minimize their appearance if the size of your pores bothers you. it is important to keep your skin clean. wash your face at least twice daily, especially before bed. use warm water to open your pores and a good facial cleanser (I like Neutrogena) to clean deep down inside your pores. you should lather for 30 seconds and rinse thoroughly. cold water will reduce the size of your pores but will not clean it.

for an added minimizing and deep cleaning effect, use a facial mask designed for deep cleaning and/or pore minimizing once a month.

You cannot 'cure' pores on your face, they are not a condition like acne, they are a natural structure of you skin.
Sorry :-(

With your additional information:
I would have to say that is a wives tale. I tried it when I was younger and it dint do me any good. Pores are a part of your skins structure, and you cannot change that. You can minimize the appearance of your pores by keeping them 'gunk' free. I use Clinique's Clarifying Lotion as it seems to keep my pores clearer than just washing does.

You can not permanently close the pores on your face - cold/ice water will cause broken capillaries. (Fine red broken blood vessels) Try a natural astringent like Witch hazel on a cotton ball applied to a cleansed face. Morning and night. Keeping the skin clean and using witch hazel and a moisturizer will be a great start.

There is no "cure" for pores. Pores are a natural feature of human skin and are required for the skin to be able to breathe. If we didn't have pores in our skin, we would die.

Cold water will shrink you pores. Warm water cleans out your pores.

it will temporarily constrict the pores on your face until the skin warms up again but not cure them
