Static electricity is simply the result of positive and negatively charged ions. Depending on the charge, these ions repel and attract each other.
Many electronic parts are made by incorporating microscopic connections to different points within the component. Static electricity can destroy these connections rendering the part useless.
We defend against discharge by grounding ourselves before touching any devices or using materials that reduce the ability of the charge to build.
Anti-static spray works by neutralizing the ions of an item such as clothes, hair, carpets, and other items. It also works by attracting moisture out of the air, increasing the conductive properties of the material the product was sprayed on.

farada cage precept as the primary reply says will handiest paintings in case you dave discharged your self and the factor *materials, rough force and many others* intent in case you use foil and you have got electrostatic cost already on then you definately you are going to simply create a cage to maintain the static where you dont desire. i propose you maintain the vigor cable within the laptop attached to the mains, maintain the rough force in a single hand (or some thing side you're transport) and contact the within of the case with the opposite hand to discharge you and each and every factor separately, and wrap them in bubble wrap and ship them in a few minutes bag. your body builds up a static charge which, when using ICs especially mosfets, can blow holws in the metal oxide insulating layer, destroying the device. This can be easily overcome by connecting yourself to earth
