I guess sort of like flirting, but I need some better tips because its not really working. Any ideas

men are not used to women flirting with them. An overwhelming majority of men said they would just love it if a woman would talk to them first or at least express a larger clue that you were interested in checking them out.

be friends with him first! get to know him better and let him know you. see more of him, adn make "casual dates". ask him who he likes, and if its no one 'subtly' hint that you like him "i like this guy, he's sitting next to me right now..." etc..
flirting is good.
