The teaching that Jesus can be identified with God needs to be balanced with an equal emphasis on the teaching that Jesus is human. Classic Christianity teaches both, to an equal extent.
We should strive to be like Jesus in his humanity, although we cannot be like Jesus in his divine "essence" as the eternal Word of God. This is a bit confusing, but it helps to remember that Jesus the man is NOT equal to God. Jesus - the man - is "God the Word, MADE FLESH". "Jesus" did not exist before his conception, but the "Word of God" did. "Jesus" is the "Word of God" manifest in the flesh.
Peace and blessing

All religion is an attempt by humans to elevate themselves above other forms of life in order to give meaning to their pitiful lives. Christians are just more arrogant than other religions because they aspire to become equal with their god (they will deny this, but it is true). The sad thing is, that there are no gods and they waste the precious little time they have in this life preparing to collect on a promise to go somewhere when they die, that doesn't exist

If all of us would frame our questions as politely as you did, religious strife would be a thing of the past.
The are some good answers already here, but here is another view.
Jesus taught that the relationship between God and man was more of a parent/child relationship. Not so much master/servant.
To be Christ-like, in one sense, is to regard God as a loving Father and yourself being His precious child.
Imagine how those Jewish disciples felt when Jesus said, "When you pray, pray like this: Our Father, which art in Heaven......".
Totally new concept for them

Sakina12,
Don't feel alone. Many Christians don't get it either. They put on an act of living a clean Chistian life, and they cannot trust God to produce them into what it is that He can make them into.
Christ-like is to allow God to influence you through the Spirit, His Spirit. And in turn, "the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead" dwells also in us, making us "New Creations in Christ Jesus." His Spirit is the "Other Comforter" that Jesus spoke about. It causes us to change 'IF' we trust Him.
And so that way, we become more like Him. Other religions don't understand that because they do not put their trust in God through the sacrifice of Jesus, and so do not have His Spirit living in them. And the Spirit also brings understanding, so that we may mature in opur relationship with Him, with His Spirit living in us.
Did that make it more clear?

Jesus spent his entire earthly life doing the will of his heavenly father in all things, even unto death on the cross.
Those of us who manage to do God's will in our lives, to whatever extent possible for us, are being truly Christlike.

We should strive to be Christlike. The Bible says that the only perfect human was Jesus himself. We all sin, but we should try to be Christlike.

You are right, no one can be like God, but we can do our best to adopt His ways, and live a llife as close to His as possible. He does not expect us to be perfect, because He understands that we are not. However, we can live our lives in peace and harmony with others as much as is possible, love one another, learn to give without expecting to receive, learn and practice humility, offer encouragement and kindness to others, treat strangers as you want to be treated. The list goes on. We only have to look at the life Jesus led as our model.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
We are commanded to have the mind of Christ and and to do what He did when He was in His earthly ministry.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;

Jesus came as God's Son in human form. Because he was His son that exalted him above us, hence the inclusion in the Trinity. Since He was human it also is easier (so to speak) learn by his example and replicate his teachings into our lives. We can never be like God, who is the ultimate Supreme, but we can live our lives the way He wants us to by living by His perfect example: JESUS;) Hope that helped.

Christlikeness is having the God's Nature of Lovingkindness and forgiveness toward oneself and others.
Not like, if you've seen me, your've seen Jesus.
Jesus Himself said, if you've seen Me, your've seen Your Heavenly Father.
Christians are to be Christlike in that they are suppose to display without preaching, the loving, compassionate, forgiving, accepting, patience of God toward others and oneself.
That's all.
