i dont think that it is illegal. but i think that you need to do it with some kooth and respect for other people. like the other day i was in the Dr's office and this black lady comes in with a boy of about 3 and a newborn. the boy is crying and of course she sits him down right next to me. she then proceeds to tell him that if he "Doesn't shet up then she is gonna whup his azzz..." (that's the way she said it...I'm not elaborating) she starts yanking his arm and he is pulling away from her - STEPPING ALL OVER MY FEET AND LEGS- it hurt by the way...it really did. she did not even apologize to me or anything. she hit him and was really mean to him. i f'ing hate mothers like that. i felt so sorry for that little guy. just think of what he has to go through at home...or what he doesn't have to go through (who knows...he may just be completely ignored by his mother at home). To answer your question...sorry i got sidetracked....If it is illegal in some states i dont think that it is in all of them. i dont think its right for the government to pass a law saying that you cant spank your kids. i mean how else are they going to be disciplined?? the future generation is going to need some good discipline if it is to survive. ---p.s. i went to a Christian Private School for a year one time and if the children got out of line, then the school would call the parents away from work to come to the school and spank the kids. I'm not joking...they called my mom one time.

Nope not illegal. But parents are afraid to spank a kid. This country is so messed up. All the kid has to do is call the cops and say his parents are hitting him and the cops will run with the idea. Guilty until proved innocent. What a country. But I say spank away. My father used a belt on the rearend. No big deal in my eyes.

It's fine. Although in some parts, like Missouri. Young parents like to play a fight game on jealousy and both of there kids, and call DFS which can get you more points towards the abusive parent even though you haven't done anything.. but spanking is fine. Discipline is forced.

No, it is not illegal, though measures have been attempted to make it illegal. As long as you do not leave welts, bruises or other physical signs of trauma, it's perfectly legal to spank a misbehaving child.

I worked for a daycare for the Army and there definition of physical abuse was anything that left a mark or anything done with "an extention of your hand". So, based on that as long as you don't leave a mark or use anything to hit them with, spank away!
I don't spank my daughter, but my husband (her dad) does sometimes. He never leaves a mark, pops her as many years as she is old (she's three, so three pops), and has never done it out of anger or irritation. When she gets spanked its because she was in danger...she has a tendency to try to get too close to the road, for example.

its ok to a limit. it probably wont be beneficial to the child, since he/she will have a higher feeling of hostility. But the child needs to learn their lessons too with a small spanking. do it, as long as the police doesnt find out.

no it is not illegal, you can spank on fatty parts of their body such as the behind. children do need to be spanked at times so they dont become bad children.

It depends on the state and city you live in. It also depends on what you do - in some places any form of corpral punishment is ok, in others, anything other than your bare hand (ie hairbrush or belt) would be considered child abuse.

people like to get excited and pretend the use of violence for parenting is illegal in the US, but it is not, alas.
It is, in fact, still legal for school officials to strike children in many states.
We have a child welfare system so overburdened that they don't respond to egregious neglect cases. They certainly don't respond to hitting.
If people think it is illegal, great. Maybe that will help them loose their ignorance, violence, and harmful parenting and actually learn how to raise kids to have self-discipline, instead of raising them to fear their parents.
Spanking is not only unnecessary, it doesn't work. 87% of americans spank, so these folks running around saying the country's going to hell because people don't spank are ignorant.
How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk is a great manual for teaching parents to actually parent, instead of popping, smacking, whacking, scaring, and otherwise messing up their kids.
