I Have had two tattoos in less then 12 months. One on my shoulder was about a 4 painful at first but became like an annoying feeling that wouldn't go away. One on my lower back was about a 8 as the pain was there the whole time and hurt the most over the spine. All in all great experience and would do it again any time.

it depends. If your tattoo artist is good then it will hurt less than someone who is bad at it. i had one on my shoulder by someone who was really bad and it would be a 10, i nearly passed out and took an hour to complete what should take 15 minutes. The other i had done was about a 3-4. The bottom of your back is worst than the top and sides are worse than middle. if you can imagin a cat scratch that is very hot. it just stings like a b*tch. but as soon as they stop the pain goes so you wont be howling when you get home!

Each person is different. I have a tattoo right between my shoulder blades, it hurt the most when he was tattooing directly on my spine. It wasn't too bad though, I mean not to the point where I couldn't finish. Just relax, the more you think about the pain, the more it's actually going to hurt. My tattoo took 2 and a half hours and I sat through the whole thing., so I would say that it's pretty low on the pain scale, at least for me it was.

I would say level 3 for me. i had a tatoo on my back couple years back and was worried in the beginning and i asked my friend to distract me by talking to me so i wont think about it and it worked.after a while it just gets numb.

If your worried about yelling getting a tat, what are you 10? It's about a 2. Inside of Bi-cep 7, skull 8, inside of thigh 9, insole of your foot 11, that baby hurt like a MFer.

I have one in between my shoulders (over the spine) it didn't really hurt me. My husband has his back covered. He didn't yell or anything, it hurt about a 5 or 6 for him, mostly over the ribs and spine is where you will be more sensitive.

I've had my jaw surgically broken and wired shut, 1 child naturally with no meds, and another child C-section....so on the scale of 1-10 for a tattoo on your back which I have one on my lower back....it's a 10!
