"hace mucho viento"
you could use the word "ventoso", but it is not that common, and you would have to describe it with another noun. saying "esta ventoso" (it's windy) is incorrect. you would HAVE to say it is a windy day/night/forest/etc -a noun ("es un dia/noche/bosque/etc ventoso").

windy = ventoso
or, it's very windy = hace mucho viento
it's windy = hace viento
It's a windy day = es un dia ventoso
