I'm looking for Satan's name before he became "the adversary". It was not Satan or Kal, it wasn't Lucifer or Helel (that association came from a mistranslation in the King James version).
He was Yahweh's favourite angel right? What name did he have then? All angel's names end in -el right?

FFS - He was NOT called Lucifer. That was a misinterpretation of the LATIN translation. Helel was another Babylonian god outside of the Yahweh mythology.
Do you understand?
Stop with the Lucifers.
Oh and arily666: ALL angel's names end in -el. You misspelt Michael.

lillie: It might not say it in the Bible but definately in other Kaballistic texts, Angels names end in -el. Sachiel, Ramiel, Michael, Israfel, Raziel. The list goes on...

Good point about Metatron, the article I read must have discounted him. Hmmm, maybe the -el suffix is only for a particular class of angel as most of them have it.
What I say still stands though. Lucifer was never Satan's name. The mistranslated line that called him that originally just compared him to the "bringing of light" either Venus or a falling star. It never openly named him there.

* All Archangels names end in -el. It means "In God". Metatron wasn't an archangel.

Additional Names Of Satan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan (Scroll down to "Satan in Christianity":) In the Christian understanding of the holy Hebrew scriptures, the one named Satan (also the Devil) is shown to be an Angel who rebelled against God, the one who spoke through the serpent and seduced Eve into disobeying God's command. Before his opposition against God, Satan was the "HIGHEST OF ALL ANGELS = ARCHANGEL, which is a superior or higher ranking Angel." Also known as The "BRIGHTEST IN THE SKY" = MORNING STAR", and "LUCIFER is a name for the MORNING STAR". The best-known "FALLEN ANGEL is SATAN." His pride is considered a reason why he would not bow to God as all other angels did, but sought to rule heaven himself. In Christianity he is called "THE RULER OF THE DEMONS" (Matt. 12:24).

Lucifer- Light- morning star. He was, in Gods words, the most beautiful Creature that God had ever made. But satan wanted more. That's why he is the devil because he turned against God and took one third of the Angels, which they are now demons. So all the demons used to be heavenly Angels of The Lord. What a shame. ....

Well it doesn't make sense to ask a question of such great proportions. If you were to simplify it to a single religion or three, there is many texts where satin is referred as the arch angel Azazel. In the Koran it is mentioned that this was the original name for Iblis the jinn or genie who refused to bow to Adam out of pride. In Hebrew Azazel means scapegoat and is referred as a wanderer who tempts mankind since his existence. In Christianity Azazel is the original name of Beelzebou the one with dominion over all demons. In the Testament of Solomon, Solomon accounts of a ring that ruled them all simply by controlling Beelzebou. Here is a really entertaining story. Hope you all like it.

Satan's name as an angel was Michael, if you look up up what Michael means, it says "like God" which may have had something to do with his pride.

Nowhere in the bible does it say satan was an Arch-Angel. It does state that God made Satan however. My theory is that Satan was created by god before god created anything else. To keep god company. They were close, if anything Satans power could be compared to god, Through Jealouse Satan became twisted and wanted heaven for himself and was so comparable to god that a good chunk of heaven fallowed him. I think to call Satan an Angel is completely inacurate, a more acurate word would be Anti-God. Inherantly evil and Dangerouse, something Christians should distant themselfs from whenever possible.

The Bible is silent on what Satan's name was prior to his rebellion and expulsion from heaven.
The Scriptures do not say that he was Jehovah's favorite angel.
And as the Bible only mentions the name of two angels it seems a bit strange you assuming their names ALL end in 'el'.

Satan goes by many names. Isaiah 14:12 refers to the name Lucifer in msny bible translations. Some people feel this is the name of a king but i think the description of how God sees Lucifer means its undeniably Him. Some others think he was Samael Lumiel.
