I'm 65 and don't feel that way.

Experience, however, teaches us that there are bad people out there. We may at times be a little slow to trust others but I wouldn't call that paranoia. Just common sense.

There is something else that I should mention. Senior citizens are often too trusting. This makes us vulnerable to scam artists and many of us get taken.

When we reach the age of 50 or older we start to get a little concerned about health issues and will our income keep us going as long as we live?

If someone offers services that could save us money we might be too trusting.

In a lot of ways senior citizens are sort of like children who've had a lot more experience. We slow down a lot, and we want simple things.

It's very complex. I understand it now. Not sure if I will 20 years from now.

Many reasons and they can be really complex. It could be due to an actual past experience of being verbally or physically attacked, it could be quite a valid reason as to why a person would feel this way. I've known people who have been overexposed to violence in their upbringing or through the television to develop feelings of over-concern for their well being. And older persons become less physically able to defend themselves should an actual attack occur too. Or it could be a paranoid type mental illness which is characterised by overvalued thoughts that people are working against them or out to harm them in some way.

Thanks for asking this interesting question :-)

It is probably caused by dementia or depression or another mental illness. This problem is not only in old people. My son 23 suffers from the same thing. He is being treated by a psychiatrist. And is showing a lot of improvement. I don't think age has a lot to do with it. Get the older person some help/

it's probably dementia~ they really believe that people are out to get them or take things from the. i think part of it is b/c they realize that their mind is not as sharp as it used to be and it makes them upset. this happened to my grandmother.

Because our people have no morals and like to prey on the weak and vulnerable.
