Colouring is not that much harmful if it only resides on the hair because except the root of the hair is living the rest is dead. But the problem arises when you put colours in the scalp that may reside for some time and may cause some problem later. It may cause irretation, skin infection, burning sensation etc. So before using any colour you should be sure that it is not going to affect your scalp if mistakenly being comes in contact. So you shoud test it over skin before use.

No. No matter how expensive the brand you use, they all contain chemicals which are very harmful to the hair. They damage the hair shaft and make it brittle. Most colours contain hydrogen peroxide and/or ammonia which is very harmful. These dyes also contain carcinogenic chemicals.

If you must, then use henna for colouring hair, it gives really good highlights. Boil tea until it is reduced to 1/3 volume of water taken, apply to hair and rinse off after 15 minutes. It also gives good highlights.

If you want a bluish/indigo highlights then go for natural indigo dye, which comes from a plant called indigo.

Hair color is safe but not for every person. Every person is different and could have allergies to certain chemicals in the product. Always do an allergy test first. Mix a small amout of color and with a q-tip apply a small amount behind the ear. YOu can wipe off the excess after 25 mins. You will know within 24 hours if you have any allergies.

any hair dye may have an adverse effect if your skin is sensitive to the chemicals used. instead Try a home made remedy of soaking amla, aritha in an iron pot overnight and then straining that water and applying it overnight. Try it for 6-8 weeks. Make sure that this concotion does not go on the skin as it may colour the skin too.

Yes in most cases.

You must do, a skin test before use, every time.

If you get burning sensation find another brand.

People can use same brands for long time and all of a sudden they get reaction. This is because they become slowly non tolerant to at least one of the ingredient but most of the time it is the combination of the ingredients.

No.. although it makes you or your hair look nice, the colouring causes the hair to lose 30% of its stretchability and too much of it causes illnesses like cancer and kidney failure.
