hi, I know you don't want to, but seriously, go to the docs! I have an illness called M.E, not sure if you'll know what it is, but because of it I get the pains that you're describing along my right arm - the illness isn't death threatening by the way if you did have it, it can actually be brought on by emotions, but look up 'chronic fatigue syndrome' (M.E) on the internet and you can check if you have any other symptons.
Hope this helps.

If you can't face going to a doctor you may end up waiting too long and having your condition worsening. Doing nothing about it or asking unqualified people here on Yahoo Answers to diagnose your condition is NOT GOOD! Only a qualified specialist - a neurologist - can run the tests needed to tell you what is wrong. It may be something that is treatable now but something that can worsen over time if you wait. Why wait until it's REALLY BAD??!!!
I know you're busy but that is NO excuse. You have to make time to go to the doctor. Or are you saying you'd rather wait until your whole left side is paralyzed and you are unable to work or go to school??? Then where will you be? Then you'll wish you could go back in time and go to the doctor. GO! You know I'm telling you the truth too!

I'm no doctor, but it sounds as though you might have a trapped nerve. You really should get it checked out, after all not knowing what the problem is won't make it go away.
Have you tried calling NHS direct, on 0845 4647? You won't have to see anyone initially and the nurses who run the service should be able to advise whether it is something you can ignore or should get treatment for.
Lets face it, even if someone is able to diagnose you on this site, you will still probably need to see a professional for treatment - it doesn't sound as though it is getting better by itself.
Be brave, good luck

Hello Anne sorry to hear about your brother. It is sad that he has this tumour. I can empathise with you about a fear of hospitals, however you need to try and overcome this fear. Presumably you will be having to visit your brother in hosipital, so you really don't have a choice do you?
As to your own condition I suggest that you make an appoinment to see a chiropractioner as it sounds like you could have trapped nerves. It could also be your diet, so give vitamin C supplements a try.
I hope that your brother recovers from his tumour and good luck with your hand. Try not to worry too much about it as it could also be down to stress.
Bye for now and let me know how you get on. Annette x

Okay so you don't think its carpal tunnel. You could try immobilising the arm for a few days in a sling to see if that stops the sensation. If you smoke it could be poor circulation (my sis in law had that happen when she smoked). It could be the first warning signs of MS but you would need to be tested for that. It could be that you are sleeping on that side and don't realise it and it is causing a pinched nerve. It could be so many different things and even though you wrk 2 jobs and your brother has brain cancer you should go and be checked over. It could also be a psychological response to his diagnosis.

Hi Ann - you have to MAKE time to go to the docs, unless you want to end up really sick too. It could be anything - a trapped nerve in your back / shoulder, dupytrens contraction, the onset of a stroke.....an emergency appointment at the docs takes no more than 10mins, Im sure you can spare that. Yahoo! Answers is not the place to be asking for a diagnoses without the backup of a doctor.

This is a time to put your fears and obstacle's behind you. Your body is telling you it needs attention You must go to the doctor as soon as possible.
What may be nothing more than a trapped nerve may be something more sinister that given early attention can be resolved with little or no on going problems.
You were given a wonderful piece of biological apperatus to carry that clever brain around in so go and get it serviced and put your fears in perspective

This is so weird. I just asked the exact same question!!!! Two minutes ago. No its not carpal tunnel as I had that when I was pregnant with my daughter, and it feels totally different. Let me know if you find an answer. I am hoping I have just pulled a muscle as I did a new exercise class yesterday - fitball. I am starting to worry too. Good luck to you - hope we are both ok. Sorry to hear about your brother too. xx

the only person who will be able to help you with this is your doctor, please try to go and see him, he will be able to reassure you and treat whatever is causing this, it may be something quite minor or the start of something more serious in which case the sooner you get treatment the better your chances of a full recovery in a shorter period of time.
your health is more important than your jobs, without it you will not be able to work anyway.
so please, the longer you leave this the worse it could get and depending on what it is then the more damage it could do, s.
so be brave and make that appointment today, explain your fear of doctors when you make the appointment , the medical staff are there to help you and put you at ease.
good luck and i hope all goes well for you.

Don't be such a wimp, go to a doctor, yoou could have some serious ailment, and the longer you wait, the worse it could get. If you fall down unconsious because of it you'll end up at the hospital anyway, and by then it may be too late to do anything, then you'll be kicking yourself.
