OK i had a problem like this and if i tried to hold something it would slip through my fingers because i could not feel it.
It was a form of carpel tunnel due to the fact of me leaning my elbow on the desk while typing.
The nerve runs from your elbow down through your wrist, if it is this depending on how sever it is , they will strap it up or have a small op. lucky for me i didn't need the op they asked me to wait it out because of any mistake by cutting of a nerve could have made matters worse.
It took my hand about a year to get better, so lets hope all is well, but please see your doc it could be something else.
Good luck.

Go to the emegency room, it could be more than you think. My friends arm was numb and most of his fingers. He was diagnosed with a mild stroke. It is important that you see a doctor at an emergency room. Go now, the sooner the better.

sounds like carpel tunnel syndrome? do you do a job with repetitive hand motions such as a server or a cashier or an assembly line worker?
