The reason you have acne is that your skin isn't exfoliating itself. Which means you need to exfoliate the dead skin cells off your face. The dead skin cells are why you have dull skin. Everytime I answer one of these questions from all you youngin's, I can't express how you need a good skin care line! The stuff in the drug store...not anymore. Since you have the problem skin look into Serious Skin Care or my favorite that isn't for acne but a lot of people with acne claim it balanced their skin Principal Secret. (I should work for these companies!) They are moderately priced and they truly will help. Just the 3 piece kit, for you at your age, of Principal Secret botanical line would probably help you enormously. And if her's doesn't the Serious line has an Acne kit. Or I have used both together. Alternating. Principal Secret has an enzyme treatment that is fabulous. It's a 20 minute mask, and it takes off all the dead skin cells, no redness, it's gentle. Love it. Both are found online. Principal secret has her own club (you can change your order around anytime) or it's sold on Qvc. Serious is on HSN.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

I am 20 and I seem to have that oily T-Zone still. I did just recently find a really inexpensive foundation that worked wonders for my oily skin. It's by the manufacturer Jane and it's oil free foundation. It will NOT help with your acne but it's FANTASTIC on coverage. Occasionally I have a pimple or two and that oil-free base seemed to cover EVERYTHING right on up. It's the cheapest make-up I've ever bought too which makes it that much better. If you're looking to clear up your acne, I would leave that in the hands of a face wash or face mask. If you're like me, you don't leave the house without putting your face on. I do though make sure that I wash my face at least twice a day with a mild soap. Good luck to you doll and I hope this information was helpful!

For daytime I like Olay SPF 15 Sensitive Skin formula lotion (not cream). It's light and has the right type of sunscreen to prevent sun damage.
At night, if your skin is acne prone/oily, you do not need a nighttime moisturizer.
Dull skin would mean your skin needs some exfoliating. Instead of using a cream w/ acid on acne prone skin I'd use a manual exfoliater--aka a scrub. I use baking soda powder w/ Cetaphil cleanser or you can buy a facial scrub at the store. I like Olay Total Effects Anti-aging Anti-blemish cleanser which also works as a scrub. The dullness will go away.

Diet and exercise, sunshine, fresh air are all essential for
healthy skin and dermal elasticity.
But you know this.
You would also know that lots of citrus fruits, rind, Vitamin C - and moderate Vitamin A are essential.
As is hygiene.
Adolescent acne can be exacerbated by excess oil production.
This doesn't appear though to sit well with your concern about ageing skin.
Unless you are separating the topics for two different people?
With respect to the respondent who suggested your age would
guard against ageing skin, there are many cases of premature ageing. This can also be as much a matter of diet and lifestyle as exposure and environment.
Genetics are the usual culprit. If your parents had the problem, you're likely to have inherited it.
One of the best traditional safeguards is lanolin.
Ease up on harsh detergent and caustic soaps - take baths containing a couple of teaspoons of wetting agent - sodium hexametaphosphate, or if unavailable use a teaspoon or two of washing soda, add a quarter cup of olive oil and half a cup of oatmeal, use mild glycerine or Castille or Pears soap, drink lots more water, run, enjoy sensible sunlight, eat fish or swallow Omega 3 fatty acid and silica supplements.
Wear wool.
Buy a sheep. Shear it. Handle the fleece.
Plant an olive grove, a grapevine. Handle, tread, drink moderately.
Carry a small face mister. Spray yourself regularly.
Replace your bathroom and kitchen handsoap with Sorbolene.
Better still, wash yourself with Sorbolene to which a few drops of Tea-Tree oil have been added.
Inexpensive, effective for both conditions you mention.

Well, a good treatment is L'oreal pure zone 3 step products, is a soap, a lotion and then the moisturizer, my sister uses it and it works ok. About the dull skin you should try a gentle exfoliation to remove dead cells and unclog your pores, a lotion to seal the pores and then use moisturizer, that way the first thing that your skin absorbs is the moisturizer and not the dirt from the environment. The trick is to do it daily, set a routine for the morning, and another one for the evening. My favorite moisturizer is Oil of Olay with SFP 15, it works wonders, I started in my early 20's and still have a good complexion, it really works for me.

ProActiv has a great moisterizer for acne prone skin that I myself use. Or depending on your money situation, Mary Kay has awesome, just awesome skin mositerizers. It aims for preventing the whole anti-aging look for those of us that are in are 20's, I was in doubt, thinking, I'm in my 20's, why do I need an anti-aging cream, but the whole idea was in the anti, we need to take care of it now, so we won't have to when we're older. I'm a strong supporter of ProActiv. Good luck!

oh dear, that's not good. I used to have dull skin as well until my friend force me to use mask on a daily basics, now its so smooth that I still cannot believe it. I use a botanics conditioning clay mask twice a week and rest of the days I use quenching thirst mask. You can do alternate days if you like. As for moisturizer I use Complexion Refining Day Moisture Lotion SPF 12 and apple cider vinegar mixed with water as toner. If you have sensitive skin, make sure you test it first before using any products, or else it might agitate your skin further. Hope the information helps.

You probably don't need a moisturizer if you have acne prone ski; and I doubt you need an anti-aging moisturizer yet. You're probably using a face wash that's too harsh. We tend to attack acne and actually end up making our face worse in the process. Neutrogena makes an anti-acne, anti-aging cleanser and a moisturizer. Have you talked to a dermatologist? Mine recommends Purpose, Basis and Aveeno products which aren't specifically for acne prone skin. I use Purpose in the summer and Aveeno in the winter, since the Purpose is more drying. I carry the Basis individual wipes in my purse.
