Can't cycle on the motorway, there's a cycle route from Bath to Bristol which you might be able to incorporate

i have seen soe one cycling over the seven bridge at bristol on the motor way .
just use the m4 and go very quick

Use the A4, it's more direct anyway. Not much safer though.
