This can't just be normal diffulty sleeping. There must be a neurological explaination. Please help.

try drinking chamomile tea. it really relaxes you. i fall asleep late, too, but this tea really helps me to relax and feel sleepy.

you should make a doctor appointment and get their professional opinion very soon. gasping for air when you try to fall asleep is not a good sign. get help right away.

There is one solution that has worked for many people who have that problem when they are in the military. Of course, you are exhausted by the time the end of the day approached, but, some of the g.i.'s fall asleep while others remain awake. So, try this...it worked in the military.

If you find yourself staying awake and not able to sleep when you are supposed to sleep, eventually, you will get tired and go to sleep.

Try realising what position you were in when you woke up in the morning or have hubby tell you what position you were in during the night and while you were sleeping.

The next time you go to bed, get into that same position as you were when you awoke. That position is your sleeping position and you may find it easier to fall asleep the next time your supposed to go to bed and sleep.

Also, get a level and make sure your bed is level. The floor may be off and you may need a two inch book to put under one or more of the legs to level off the bed. A bed must be totally level for good sleep.

Doesn't sound good to me... depends how much sleep you get a night (when you do fall asleep) how much exersise you get, diet... stress. I found a good long walk and reading till I was tired helped me (even if I fell asleep only for 4 hours at a time)
good luck
