the withness,
God has shown that it doesn't matter who hears Him. They understand Him. One instance is this:
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
So the Feast of Pentecost was a sort of Tower of Babel in reverse. Where instead of language being confused, it was understood by all, no matter what language they knew.
Joseph was shown dreams, and he also interpreted the dreams of others.
One way to look at this, believe it or not, is the Frankenstien movies. ????!!!!!
Dr. Frankenstien didn't know how his monster worked. He couldn't make it say what he wanted it to say, and do the things he wanted it to do. But God is the opposite of that. He can make things happen to people, regardless thea they understand what it is that He does. All the parts of the universe is understood by Him, and at His command.
So try not to lean on understanding of Him by human standards. He can do whatever He wants to make happen. He's that capable.

I think God spoke to them in their hearts, without words or symbols. They then used their own words to convey as closely as they could, the ideas, messages, or instructions God inspired them to give. You will notice when you read them, that what they say is in cultural context for their time, not always appropriate for today without interpretation. For instance, the command to parents to put their disobedient children to death. Nobody has done that for a long time, or would suggest that we go back to that. But at one time, it was in the interest of survival that everyone cooperate.
The prophets could only give God's word to the people using the words and experiences that they had themselves, which makes sense, because they wouldn't have been understood otherwise. People are finite- there is only so much new information that we can take in. God knows our limits. When the prophets were speaking about the events of their times, for instance Isaiah talking about the coming of Cyrus, or Jeremiah prophecying the conquest of Jerusalem, they are speaking both about current events for them, and eternal truths for all of us. This is true of all the prophets. God inspired them to not just convey information, but to tell us how we should think about it and act on it. This part is valid for all times, as long as we remember to put it in context.

Why would you limit God's abilities to communicate with man? In addition to Language and Symbols other possibilities do exist, such as VISIONS, DREAMS, and THOUGHTS for instance. Right?? And consider the fact that these are merely human forms that we know of...
Imagine the possibilities.
Peace be with you.

Language is time with growth...
thicker vocabularies, with meanings and words...
longer symbols, wider in meaning...
cover more distance and time...
within the eternity of meaning.
Moses, Abraham, in common,
where do you stand,
what must I follow?

Yes, God spoke to ancient prophets in signs, symbols, dreams, visions and languagues and preferably totally unexpected. There are mentions of the Tower of Babel where mankind spoke all one language before its destruction. It is my belief that it is true. it makes common sense by the person who wrote it. Don't you think?

God is not a person and therefore does not communicate in language. How does a spirit or energy communicate?
By merging with. The sun heats us by getting atoms in our molecules and cells excited and vibrating faster. Sound merges with us by making our ear and skin vibrate in harmony with itself and we interpret it in the brain after it being carried there though chemical flow and electromagnetic currents.
Spiritual "stuff" is "rarified" or finer than energy and energy is "rarified" or finer than matter. Therefore spirit can only communicate with matter, or mind that we are, by stimulating our sensory apparatus artificially. I works directly on our "interpretation" centres, and on the energy around us. People who sense spirits of deceased people speak of a "cold" when a spirit is present.
The ONE communicates with ITSELF or ITS Creation directly, not through a "language". People like Moses etc..only "interpret" the signals just the same as we do. We interpret what the ONE wants of us or of the part of ITSELF that we are, by "loving the neighbour" and "being charitable", etc. or all the many qualities that we call the "spiritual" or higher qualities in "homo sapiens".
Historically our ancestors used to call the ONE "God in the Highest" or the Loftier thoughts we could have, we attributed to a "higher" entity than our "selves", which we called the "animal" part of our "self".
The Cyborg, being a "betazoid" (Star Trek), or a "sensitive" is attuned to a certain spectrum of the electromagnetic frequency that animals, including humans put out. To make words around that impulse is totally "subjective" and not necessarily what the sender meant intellectually, although the general "feeling" is accurate. One can know by "intuition" if a person is a "threat" or not. One cannot necessarily know if a person is speaking the truth on trivial matters.
The ONE's communications to the prophets of old were probably part message and partly "interpretations" to fullfill the necessities of the tribe of that day and age.
The ONE does not communicate to one person only, but emanates in a "broadcasting" mechanism much like the sun does not shine on just one person but on ALL. Whoever wants to interpret the sun's energy can be called a "prophet" but he/she is mainly a "seer" or a "feeler" and is no more "chosen" or "saintly" than the general population.

God can communicate with prophets either in an audible voice, or their their minds by giving them His thoughts or through visions, leaving aside indirect communication through angels. When visions or visible images are received from God there is need to seek the interpretation from God.

it is always said god spoke. not show pictures, about what would occur.
words mean whatever they mean based on the people who speak them and the meaning given to them. english is made up from hundreds of other languages using words which have different meanings depending on where and when it is spoken. i can speak english in one part of the state, and have no idea what it means in another since their meaning may imply something else.
for example the words sky-up has one meaning in texas which is that it is nonsensical speech, while in north carolina it means to take a trip.

God speaks to you in whatever language you understand.
And he take your interests into consideration when answering.
He talks to me in music and in computer graphics. God writes in English words to me. When I ask "Who is talking to me?" He says "I AM." which is what the Bible says God calls himself. He also shows pix of people I know. God also has a teriffic sense of humor. Remember, he made us in HIS image and made us to fellowship with. That makes HIM more like us than we would like to believe. I am sorry that people who don't believe in God wasted our time in answering this question. You wanted educated answers from believers. Good Luck.
