now i know that most people i meet who follow their religions values are pretty nice, humble people that i call the doves of faith. by and large i see the problem not from someone reading a book and believing in it but by the people who take things way to seriously. an example i guess would be 9/11(official story) or christian fundamentalism where they have the hell houses of abortion. i dont think religion will ever go away so i think that this is more important to discuss nowadays

No, because many innocent people who practice Christianity are basically fundamentalists.

It is FANATICISM that needs to be fought! By fanaticism, I mean anybody who uses their faith politically.

It's a bit of a generalization but I would have to say that fundamentalism is a great danger. A tolerant, open-minded, humble person of any belief system (including atheist or agnostic) is, to me, the most reliable and responsible.

But again, that is a generalization.

It must all be faced down and challenged. The Fundies are not only the most dangerous but they are the most insane and the easiest to attack. It must be remembered that the core of religion is that mild seeming culture that propogates its mythology in the recognized churches. One other thing is for you to remember not to become what you are fighting against. Atheism is not just about going against Xtians, nor is it a religion itself.

If anyone's going to "attack" fundamentalism, it should be the sane members of said religions, not an outside force.

Which, actually, I *do* see a lot of on here--people of a religion dealing with the extremists of their own religion. Good job, guys.

i do no longer think of criticism and attack are an identical element, and which would be a volatile view element for us all to hold. now and lower back criticisms are mandatory and the skill to lead them to is plenty extra significant than every person's feeling of offense. If we left religious businesses on my own, we'd be ignoring the reality that they generally use their effect to impress the international in methods we frequently view as unfavourable (the Catholic church is a awesome occasion of this- any real looking individual must be disgusted by skill of their historic previous or perhaps recent activities). "...hopefully my heart maintains to advance so as that i can love all and sundry even (as much as that may no longer hassle-free to assert) Athiest." does no longer sound very uncomplicated... "And maximum heavily why can no longer athiest go away us on my own?' attempt being one... because it relatively is been mentioned many circumstances, i incredibly do no longer care what you think of. it relatively is basically a difficulty while people use their ideals to impress rules, preparation curriculum, and finally my rights.

It is wrong to us any religion as an excuse for any attacks. religion is about the spirit of love and peace, not being "right' or attacking others who are different.

The fundies are the most dangerous (Xian/Muslim or Jew) but moderates are fair game. See my answer on faith here for why.

No one should attack anyone. We are all free agents to make our own decisions about our faith. ~Peace~
