to calculate calorie is quite easy.
Find the amount of carbohydrate, protein and fat in grams. Mulply these factors by 4, 4 and 5 respectively and add. that is the calorie you can get from the sliced bread.
I don't think a single slice will provide 40 calorie; any way calculate it. best of luck
