In Sydney, we only have a couple of prescribed diet pills. They are expensive and don't really work for me. Anybody have any recommendations?

This sounds like a classic pitfall. Do you really want to lose weight? Diet pills is not the solution, sorry! Change your eating habit. More fruit and vegetables, excercises ... you know the regular healthy stuff where you get tired and sweaty from. I guess you opt for the lazy way but that's not a long term solution.
Good luck.

Try tae kwon do or other martial art. Its addictive, and the only funny side effect is ability to defend oneself in addition to losing weight. Taking a pill is just a bad idea.
