I just have pain in this one area. The knot is like a lump like the size of a quarter. It extends from the bottom of the back of my head to my neck. I have had it before, but then it goes away after maybe a week. I don't really understand why it happens. I hope that it is not serious, but you guys are helping me out with your answers.

It could be serious.Anything to do with the spine/neck can be serious.It could be the beginning of fibromyalgia.I hope not,this is a horrible disease.Do you have knots?aches and pains anywhere else on your body?fibro sometimes starts in one area,but then migrates to many different areas and then takes over the whole body.You need to be checked by a dr.

Could be a few things happening. Could be that you have gotten your neck out of alignment or possibly some arthritis going on. Best to have your doctor check it out. They will probably xray it.
