to late to ask this question dont you think. but no worries,damn near any 30-06 remington was worth your money.they make good rifles for the money you spend!

You made a darn good choice. The Remington 700 is one of the best shooting guns on the market today. The synthetic stock is an excellent choice since moisture doesn't effect it. I own a Remiongton Model 700 chambered for the .308 round and it is a tack driver. It's the rifle that goes with me whenever I go deer hunting. I've topped it with a 6X Swarovski scope and am as happy as a box of birds with it.

I have one myself, as well as a Model 740 (which later became the 7400) that are both calibered in .30-06. I also have an old P1917 Enfield that was chambered from British .303 to .30-06 for US combat in WWII that my Great-Grandfather gave me.
Good choice my friend, now go put a good scope on it.

It is a legendary rifle. One of the best ever made. With a good scope combonation you can kill anything within a five mile radius(not really; but close!) good choice on 30 06. Its a real flat shooting bullet with plenty of stopping power. My friend dropped an elk with his, just remember to get a very heavy grain. I own a 7mm mag. 700 myself. I was one of my best investments. cherish that gun. its a keeper.

They are as good as they get and usually affordable. The .30-06 Springfield is also an excellent caliber suitable for all North American big game. Top it with a good scope and you're ready.

I also bought this rifle for north american big game hunting. I get about 1 inch groups of three at 100 yards, which is pretty good with the scope supplied with it. Pretty good deal, especially for the money.
