Okay, so English is my native language,
I've been studying French for 4 years (I'm one of the top students and I'm studying abroad for a semester),
and I have a few close Russian friends and I think the language is so beautiful....
Yes, no?

Russian can be hard, or easy. It depends on you, how you learn, and how you learn it. I do not recommend pimsleur, other than as a study help to lessons.

You have Russian friends to practice with, which is key to learning the language. You have top grades in another language, so you know how to study a foreign language. I think you can be successful

I recommend a tutor from: http://www.language-school-teachers.com and take at least 3 lessons a week.

But conjugation of verbs will be the hardest one. Cyrillic alphabet isn't so hard to learn.

For Xeina: psst... cat is kotik (male) or kiska (female)

My Linguistics trainer mentioned that Russian and English percentage plenty of structural similarities, while you get handed the circumstances. Based at the languages you talk (French, Spanish, Portuguese & English), they percentage a old genetic courting with Russian (Germanic/Romance/Slavic branches of the Indo-European language institution), while Arabic does not (It's from the Semitic department of the Afro-Asiatic language institution, which involves Hebrew, Maltese, Amharic and Somali). After all that mouthful, Russian might be simpler to gain knowledge of than Arabic. Arabic is extra largely spoken, however Russian is extra of a lingua franca for international locations in jap Europe and northern Asia.

My first language is russian and it is really hard to learn for anyone who wasn't born there. It is nice to know, but all the different sounds are very difficult for english speaking people.

The only difficulty is to learn cyrilic to be able to read and write russian. I guess for a person like you it would be interesting, new and challanging.
Try it!
