They're full of carbs, but they transsubstantiate into the body of Christ within your stomach (if you're Catholic), so you're ok.

The wafers are unleaven bread (bread with out a yeast). The bible makes use of yeast as a logo for sin, so the communion wafer, having no yeast is consequently sin loose. Hence, it's calorie loose and carb loose. So think no guilt while participating communion.

um a steady diet of communion wafers would be full of carbohydrates, but for it to even be an issue you would have to receive the eucharist like every other minute. and that would be like woooaaahh catholicism overload.
hey yah and maybe it counts as like a meat product if it turns into the body of christ, so that would be no carbs. you're fine.

If you use the same wafers we used at our Protestant church, I don't expect you have anything to worry about. They were translucent-thin and not much bigger than a quarter. I doubt a single carb could squeeze in there.

I have to give you kudos for asking the strangest question I've seen in awhile. I doubt a wafer here and there is going to bust your diet. Besides, if you really are a Catholic, and you truly believe you are eating the lords flesh, why would it matter? Is your diet more important than your beliefs?

"... And thou shalt eatest thy communion wafers, yet be not troubled by their high caloric content, for thy sin of eating too many calories be pardoned, the body of christ being an exception among carbohydrate-dense foods. Amen." Atkins 2:13
