I gave this out earlier in a running question. I will attach a link to a running program called couch-to- 5K. It is very effective and will start with walking and move on to running when you are ready. As for the diet, try Weight Watcher, my wife recently lost 22 pounds and that was in February. She still has it off. Best of luck!

without knowing specifics it is difficult to prescribe exercise to someone. However brisk walking is always a good start, especially if you have the time to do it cotinuously for 30 minutes plus. You need to start with an exercise programme you can adhere to over a long period as this is one of the keys to success. Dont overdo it initially. Start with exercise and durations that you can manage comfortably and build from there. Remember that you body will continually adapt to new challenges, so in order to get fitter you must regularly set you body tougher tasks. For example walking for longer than normal or walking faster, uphill, or jogging.

Try some resistance training exercises also. For example Press Ups, Squats, Abdominal Curl, Plank, Lunges, Biceps Curl, Back Raises. You can view these exercises easily on the net. Remember to stretch properly as well after each exercise session.

Regarding diet some baic ideas for health are to keep your alcohol intake to a sensible limit, try to eat foods low or free from saturated fats, and drink water a regular periods throughout the day. Remember the majority of your foods should come from carbohydrates especially if you are undertaking a new exercise programme.
