Well, from my point, it's a guy thing. You'll probably never figure it out and I'll try to explain. I think it's one the few aspects in life the we (men) still have full control over, it's nothing major but that's the way it is. My wife hate's it too, and I've learned to compromise in dealing with the controlling of the remote. Another branch of this, for me anyway, I like amounts of remotes (3 in bedroom and living room, and 2 in spare room). Hope this helps.
