I heard somewhere that a guy should call a girl pretty on the first date. Is that true for teenage girls, or older girls, or neither?

It's different for every date and every person. Personally, I never say anyone is pretty - you're opening a can of worms. If you've had a good time you should tell the person "I enjoyed myself." You're out with that person because you're attracted to them. Women/girls will respect you more and you'll be much happier in the long run if you respect them and what's inside their head - not just outside.
Save the physical comments for later. This is coming from a 35 year old guy who's been down the road. It doesn't change no matter if you're 15 or 35 or 105. It just gets better.

It's the first thing you should say, because they just spent a lot of time to look their best. Say it in a casual manner.

in general girls like that stuff, you would only be helping out your chances of her liking you more if you do, but make sure you mean it, and your not trying to get into her pants. That would only make you a jerk.
