Have you determined the problem yet? It could be behavioral, enviromental, physical, or mental.
Behavioral:
Turn off any distraction (radio, tv, ipod, cell, computer, etc)
Turn off the lights and lay in bed, no reading, eating, tv etc.
Remain active throughout the day so you will be tired at night
Enviromental:
Make sure that you block out as much noise as possible, wear earplugs if you can't control the sounds
Block all light. Melatonin is what makes you sleepy, it is released by your brain when the light stops hitting your eye.
Physical:
Ask your doctor if melatonin supplements are right for you
Remain active through out the day
Mental:
Quit stressing
Try to dampen your thoughts at night

Is this a recent phenomena or something which has been happening for long, what i need to know whether it is acute or chronic. if its recent then the cause can be anything, r u too much stressed out, u say u cant focus in class, r u up for any major or minor exam or some project u had to finish but u didnt due to some reason and now its hanging on ur head, any guilt or fear, anything bothering u or this is happening post ur exam, like we all stay up late at night to study and ur body has got accustomed to that, it happens. i feel ur body rhythm has totally gone haywire, it just cant relax and doesnt know when to stay awake and sleep. this condition is called insomnia and if its an acute one and short term, u can ask ur doc for a tranquilser( there are few good ones for short term insomnia and once ur body rhythm is back to normal, u can stop and no it doesnt form addiction). I dont know what more to say as u urself can evalulate ur situation best and find out the real cause urself, once u know whats wrong then maybe u will relax and sleep better. Hope this helps, i will post more if u can just elaborate a little more about ur problem. there are many homer emdies but i think ur very anxious and stressed out and it will be best to take a health care providers help. Take care.

That is very annoying to not be able to sleep and a friend of mine introduced me to a health food product which is naturally produced by the body as well and it is called "melatonin" and when we had a tragic death in our family a few years back none of us got much sleep and this friend told me about this and it saved our sanity. You can not readily get it in Canada but some stores do carry it and so do some pharmacies but I order mine on line from the US as I find the best kind is "Schiff's 20 mg" and if you put that into your search engine you will have all the choices you want to order from. Hope this is helpfull for you and it is a natural product with absolutely no side effects at all and you will feel totally rested. Good luck

No caffienne after about 4 hours before bedtime, avoid adrenaline raising activities before bedtime, And let go of that committee arguing with itself in your head. It helps me to empty my mind if I lay on my back and concentrate on my breathing, in , hold, exhale slowly in about 10 to 15 second cycles. When I wake myself up with a snort or snore, I can roll over & go back to sleep easily.
