I'm white and I make chapatti, but not as often as I could.I think they are the most delicious bread ever. Most white people have never heard of them or eaten them. Even when we go to an Indian restaurant, we usually get naan. I have to ask for chapatti, its often not even written on the menu. So most white people wouldn't have the least idea about how to make them.I know how, because I have had friends from India. The previous answerer is right about people not wanting to spend the time to make them. Americans in general are doing less and less cooking. With so many couples with both working, real cooking has become an activity for families wealthy enough for a stay at home mom. Chapattis are a lot more labor intensive than simply buying a loaf of bread. And to get ready made chapatti, you have to have an Indian market nearby. I found a recipe that uses a food processor that gives good results, and is a time saver, so we are having them much more often.

A lot of white people don't know about chappatis or even how to make them. It's not a part of their culture so they're not used to it. I'm Bengali. so I love chappatis. I could eat them all the time.

White people are custom-ed with Ready meals,They prefer easy cooking(heat or boil only 20--30 Min)
While Indian dishes need more labour incentive that is why they avoid chapatti and prefer bread which take Longer time to manage and then cook

Instead of going on about how "white" people don't eat it... why don't you give "us" the recipe so that we can try it??? I would if I had a recipe for it.
And how did it come about that the BREAD is what causes people to be obese?

the main issue in health when eating grains is whether or not it's a whole grain (includes the bran, germ, and endosperm).

other than that, i agree with you - chappati is healthier . .
