Some people believe that they always were, as if their entire existence was in either Heaven or Hell as an angel or a demon. However, I wonder if they didn't all start off as people. Do you think (regardless as to what a religious texts might say) that good people become angels when they enter Heaven and bad and evil people become demons when they enter Hell? Or maybe angels and demons (the Devil's angels) are just the messengers, guardians, advocates, etc. that are either selected by God or the Devil, or whom choose those roles.

Well I can't and won't disregard what "religious texts" say because it is the basis for what I believe. No, I don't believe angels and demons started off as mortals. According to the Bible, demons are fallen angels, and angels are specifically created beings. The Bible even mentions that humans have more worth/value to God than an angel does.

If memory serves me right, Lucifer used to an Angel, right?
Then he went from "Angel of Light" to "Prince of Darkness.
And that was before God created man.
So, No! They do not start off as mortals.

as far as I know only one did--the demon queen lilith--all others are created as angels--another possible mortal is astaroth, but I'm not sure on him, he has a few different origin stories

No, they did not start off as people..... They were energies.. spirits, they were..... some rebelled, and some are still at the Lord's charge.....
