I am trying to cast a spell called the "Desire Spell." It calls for a red candle. I've noticed that substitution are acceptable in other spells. For example, I see in other spells that I can substitute a pink candle (if I want true love) over a red candle (instead of passion/lust). I want this spell to cast in the name of love, not just lust. Would the spell still work? And also, the spell should be cast when the waxing moon is in the sign of Scorpio. I cannot wait until May to perform this. Would there be any other acceptable time?

So are you Wiccan? Isn't one of the main truths in following Wicca is that you can't interfere with people's free will? Don't try spells to make someone fall in love with you. First of all, it might not work, and even if it did, it wouldn't be for the reasons that you wanted.

you see the thing about spells are you can make them up, what u suggest is you take that spell that you named and use it as a guide to make your own spell, like you just said use a pink candle so you may find love not lust, and i never got into the planets magick is more then astronomy use the earth and personal powers to cast the spell (if you want)

anytime is acceptable--your personal need supercedes the time specification--i wouldn't go with the substitution though, because red could mean something totally different in regards to this spell

I think the time is right. It might need a little help. Maybe a little. lube Pink or red. Go for it.
