personally I think top to bottom pride is better, But the top UFC guys are just as good as the top pride guys.

to that homo bushido,
you don't have to watch if you don't like it or if its to brutal for you. The facts are that these guys like to fight or they would'nt be getting in cages. Don't give me your philosophy on how martial arts should only be self defense crap. Its a sport and competetion and it takes guts what they do.

i think that's a fair assessment. i would totally agree w/ it. pride has more top knotch fighters, but fighters like ortiz, liddell, hughes, and st. pierre are some of the best fighters anywhere in the world. besides the fact that a lot of pride guys are coming over to the ufc like anderson sylva. they should mix promotions one night and have a unified championship night. maybe in the near future... we can only dream

I agree with some of the points from above. I think that Pride and the UFC both have their strong points and weak points.

I'm a well-rounded MMA fan so I follow all of the organizations. It is a shame that most of the organizations focus on themselves rather than the fighters. If the fighters were the focal point then we would have true world champions. I would like to see fighters having their own agents/promoters rather than signing a contract with an organization. This would allow fighters to make their own fights and receive more of the proceeds from those fights. I think the fighters across all of the organizations (ok maybe not Pride) are severely underpaid.

*And Joseph B... I was right there with you in 93 watching Royce whoop guys twice his size. Remember that guy (I think it was UFC 1) that wore one boxing glove into the fight?! What a dumb***.

I like both, I support the UFC because I want them to expand and become worldwide so that they will have more worldclass fighters. Pride has is desparatley trying to open up the american market but they are trying to put together a Japanese show in america, see the UFC did a show in Japan and it didnt turn out well. Japanese audience doesnt want to see a Pro-wrestling style set up with only a few japanese fighters. Also Japanese audience wants to see Japanese fighters whether they win or lose as long as they have the "will of the warrior", while americans want to see decisive victories.

However the UFC is slowly starting to alienate the american fans by making more about business and money than enterainment. Example: I paid 40 bucks to watch a payper event and had to sit threw saw3 commercials and opinions of people who dont even matter and then I have to pay $2 per fight or $10 a month to watch the prelims on UFC on demand when they should have cut out all the crap on the payperview.

But I love MMA so I love all MMA organizations I watch UFC, PRIDE, IFL, WFA, Strikeforce, Pancrase, K-1, and any other MMA I run across.

Werdum quite disillusioned me contained in the strive against adverse to Arlovski yet Arlovski became disappointing besides, that became only a negative strive against and the Pitbull is amazingly starting up to change right into a borignn fighter, he does not press the action, he's timid himseld, Werdum must have pushed more effective and he in all likelihood would have beet the Pitbull. Cro Cop became quite a marvel yet I have considered Gonzaga strive against some situations and knew that he became an all round fighter and intensely risky so Cro Cop dropping to him will not replace my opinion. I nonetheless experience the saem way about delight and that i'm stll a huge fan and picture their skills is staggering, i imagine it really is a distinct ecosystem contained in the UFC the cage as adverse to the hoop make a distinction, the crew is different. i imagine that delight could have the redemption would 26 even as Jackson takes out Lidell for the call although.

I gotta say Pride, its the most complete. Every Pride card has good fighters that you would pay to see, while UFC cards usually have 4 matches worth watching. Plus the Pride Grand Prix tournaments are awesome, especially the middleweights with Wandy, Rua, Overeen, Arona, Randleman and the list goes on! Also, i like how pride allows stomping a downed opponet, and you can knee guys in the head from the north/south postiton. And to top it off, the scoring is better. They judge the fight as a whole, not just by round. Gotta love the 10min opening round too, cuz you can see who is in shape and prepared to go to war marathon style!

Kobra Jesus ~
Pride and UFC are two of the biggest names in the MMA world and they have a hold on some of the Worlds best MMA fighters. Any fighter who climbs into the ring or cage has all my respect, it's easy for people to sit back and judge when they don't have the sack to get in there and do it, they are so much worse than armchair quarterbacks.
Pride and UFC both have some real good fighters and it would good for the MMA fighters and fans if fighters from both organizations could fight against each other but this won't happen, because it all comes down to greed of their promotional companies.
MMA by all means is still in it's infancy stage and right now Pride and UFC are the Big Men on Campus but like their brother Boxing, they will begin to have similar problems. In boxing there use to be ONE World Champion and One association that recognized them, then people started to get greedy and brake off into different factions WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, USBA and so on, MMA is heading in the same direction.
Dana White President of the UFC has gone on record stating that "There's no fighter from Pride that I need, Pride fighters need me" to me that shows his arrogance. Why can't the best fighters in the world fight against eachother without having to worry about violating their contracts and being sued for doing so? Money, money, money.
There are no gimmes in MMA it would be great to see the best fight the best, forget PRIDE and UFC it should be about the fighters.
Thanks for the question Kobra Jesus.

Pride has had some "issues" lately, like being dropped from Fuji TV and the on again/off again contract with Tyson. It remains to be seen if the problems in Japan will affect Pride's expansion in North America, or the quality of their stable. At this point most of their revenues come from ticket sales in Japan, and they have quite a bit of competition there with K1 MMA, shoot fighting, Pancrease, whatever Antonio Inoki does lately, etc. I guess whichever promotion gives fans what they want will come out on top?

I have to agree with you. The depth of talent is so much deeper in Pride than UFC, but the top UFC guys can hold their own in Pride.

Pride, overall, offers much more to the audience. The rounds are longer and they really allow the fighters to fight until submission. So, fight for fight, you'll see a better, longer fight in Pride.

Both. These organizations are going to have to compete and make their shows even better. The fans win, hell even the fighters are going to win. They deserve bigger prizes but the promotions keep them down.
