It's always much more difficult over the phone, so it would be better to go in person, also it shows you're enthusiasm, and gives you the chance to win someone over with your smile! Also, when you phone someone, you're generally interrupting people in whatever else they're doing, so it doesn't start you off in the best way - when you go in person, you can wait until you see the person isn't too busy.

Possession is the wrong word here, it means owning or having complete control over someone. You want to be an employee, not a slave!!!

I guess over the phone you could say some thing like, "Good morning, I'm just calling to see if you have any positions for a waitress at the moment". If they say not right now, you could still ask "OK, can I leave you my details (it means your name and phone number) in case anything comes up?" Whatever the answer, unless someone is really unfriendly, finish with "OK Thanks very much".

Probably a good idea to practice dialogues with someone first. Seriously, go in person. And good luck - it's always hard at first, but if you keep on at it you'll be fine.

I will teach you English if you teach me German. Seriously though I wish I could help you, just keep studying English as if it is lots of fun. You are doing a lot better then some people. It took me around 7 years to get my English to what I thought was exceptable. I still mess things up with grammar though. Just keep at it and you will be speaking and writing in great English. We all had to learn it at some point =)

See if you can find a job in a restruant that specializes in the food from where you are from. Then you can communicate with management and still learn english.

If you could, I would suggest not even asking on the phone but going in person to ask. It always seems better if someone wanting a job actually goes to the employer to inquire rather than be cold and send an e-mail or call.

Either just hold the phone up to where your supervizer can see that you need help and wave your hand to get someones attention and use the hand signal of placing your thumb near your ear and your other fingers near your mouth as a sign that you have a problem.
