Go to a professional and get some advice on what deep conditioners to use at home. If you have a hood dryer all the better. Otherwise have them do some deep heating treatments there in the salon. First ask them what they use and ask to see it. They shouldn't mind showing you what they are going to use. You can't buy it anywhere anyway...if it is a professional product and they will know that. It should be a top of the line product name. Paul Mitchell, Matrix, Redken, etc. I use a combination of three different types of really good deep conditioners and charge $20. You should do it every month until your hair feels better, then go to once every two months and try to keep a schedule of that.
Meanwhile, you want to start off with a really good cut...say 3" minimum. Then have 1/8" cut every 6-8 weeks. Keep a good regular schedule of that.
Wash your hair upside down every time you wash it and massage your scalp to get the circulation going and that will help your hair grow longer faster.
Make sure you state these desires to your stylist and have the eye contact to make sure the two of you are on the same page. If you don't get this from the stylist ......walk out the door and look for another. Keep looking until you find one you like. Go online and look for salons in the yellow pages. Look for salons that carry top of the line products like I mentioned above. Happy searching! Good luck and God bless.

Get a good conditioner
Get a light hair moisturizer you can use daily...
Keep the ends trimmed and spit ends trimmed as well
You can get it cut into a cute pixie haircut. Luckily short hair has been an "in" thing.. Especially now with one side longer than the other. Dr. miracle has a line of products that you can use. But the main thing is keeping your hair conditioned, moisturized, and trimmed. Another thing is getting a wrap also helps because it gives your hair excellent body, protection, and maintenance. And after your first wrap, you can just wrap it yourself with just combing it up into a circle and put a satin scarf on it at night.. because when you sleep with your hair out, the friction on the pillow causes the shedding and damage too. so keeping your hair wrapped will help that damaged hair out too... if you can't do it. go to a beauty shop and get it done, and then if you ask they'll show you how to wrap it yourself when you get ready to go to bed...

I work as a beauty consultant and the best product for damaged hair is "repair" conditioner:

I swear by this stuff! Oh and if you are on a budget the old fashion tubes of V05 hot oil still work wonders.
