So when did "Fisher of Men" get baptized as a Jehovah's Witness?

I got baptized as a young man, in Seattle, WA USA. It was after proving for myself that what JW's taught was really in the bible, and not the traditions and doctrines of men.

The more I go door to door the more I have come to appreciate that Christendom does not have the truth. That they are following Plato's teachings and not those of Jesus.

Acts 8: 35Then Philip (AT)opened his mouth, and (AU)beginning from this Scripture he (AV)preached Jesus to him.

36As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, "Look! Water! (AW)What prevents me from being baptized?"

37[[a]And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."]

38And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him.

39When they came up out of the water, (AX)the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing.

I was baptized at Dodger Stadium in 1972. My mother became a witness when I was 7, I'm now 50. I was disfellowshipped by the Corning, CA congregation in 1982, for cause. I could say I had too many females in my bed, but than I wasn't married to either one. I've been approached several times by people or groups wanting me to join their anti-JW movement and say I was thrown out because I learned their beliefs were false, but I refused.

I got to see both sides of being a child celebrating holidays and than not celebrating them.

WHEN: Baptism is only valid AFTER one has come to a studied conviction regarding his Christian obligations and biblical understandings. Of course, baptism must also be preceded by repentance, conversion, and dedication.

WHERE: Baptism is only valid by complete WATER IMMERSION, so that it can properly symbolize one's being "buried" to his formerly selfish life and "resurrected" to a life of dedication to Christ and God.

Hi ladie2. God tells us about faith in Romans 10:17:

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

The word of God is found in the Bible. God teaches He wants us to study His Word found in the Bible in
2 Timothy 3:15-17:

"And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

I am not sure if your asking about water baptism, but baptism by water is not nesseary for your salvation. God speaking in Luke 3:16-17 tells us:

"John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

Water baptism has nothing to do with becoming Saved. Baptism was an outward sign (cermonial Law) that God had instituted for the local New Testament congregations. This was to show us a representation of how water (either by sprinkling or pouring on, or by being immersed in) washes away the filth of our flesh (our sins). In the eyes of God for one of us to be clean, it is He (and He alone) which applies the Water of the Gospel to us. And thus, washes away the sins of that individual. The act of water baptism has no spiritual impact on any person. We read in Matthew 28:19:

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

This is not talking about water baptism. You could baptise all day and all night and there is no guarantee that anyone of those whom you baptised were saved. Christ was baptised in water and so was I, but it plays no part in anyones salvation.

Hi TeeM. I'm glad you posted Acts 8:34-39, this verse confirms what I was saying that water baptism plays no part whatsoever in a person's Salvation.

Just before Phillip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch he asked him a very important question. In verse 37 God tells us: "Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

The point is if the eunuch had said "no I don't believe" the water baptism would have been useless. Phillip could have baptized him a hundred times in water and he still would not have been saved. The eunuch was saved because he confessed Jesus Christ was the Son of God.
