my checks are good for about 3 days, unless its for that coastal property in arizona, those are good for at least 5 years.

Personal checks don't typically have an expiration, but there was a law that the bank doesn't have to pay on a check over 6 months old. I'm not sure that law is still in effect, so chances are, it will still go through even later than 6 months after it's written. Either way, it will definitely still be good two months later like in your example.

Only your financial institution can answer that question. My bank will honor checks I've written for up to a year.

If the check has not been cashed, be sure to leave enough money in you account to cover it, to avoid some potentially expensive problems. If for some reason you no longer want the check to be honored, your bank can put a Stop Payment Order on it, but there will be a charge for that. You'll have to ask your bank how much.

When you write a check, it's good for one year. (I know it's stupid) If you write a check on Sept 1st 2006 they can cash it anytime until Sept 1st 2007.

I used to work at a bank.

I try to cash them within a week, typically they are good for a year. If it over a year old put it in the ATM, chances are neither party will catch it.

The checks I get for selling property in Arizona, well I typically wait five years just to piss them off.
