hard to say, depends on the car. If you quarter the animal and put it in game bags, you can then put it in the back seat on top of plastic. Hang it in the game bags when you get home in a cool place to age.

"Lay it across the hood next to the winshield and it will support your deer"
DO NOT DO THIS!!! The deer will block you view of the road and that is unsafe! Also the heat from your engine could cause the deer to spoil making it unsafe to eat.
Field dress the dear and put the quarters into coolers in your trunk. If the inside of your trunk is over 50 degrees use ice to keep the deer cool until you get home to hang it up to wash it. A lot of times that wiled taste you hear about is caused by spoilage of the meat.

yeah, probably, but I wouldn't recommend it. For one, there are alot of antihunters out there that wouldn't appriciate looking at your deer, and, dispite the fact that most of us don't care, it isn't very polite to rub our beautiful buck in their faces. Besides, if you have a wreck, your beautiful buck will become a 200pound, soft, furry, missle.
My buddy field dresses his deer where he finds it, drags it to his car, and puts it in the trunk...he uses that heavy plastic to line his trunk, and so far has not had any major issues with blood...

Buy a roof rack, secure some plywood on it if it does not have a grate, and secure your deer there.
