Firstly, good question - why do doctors prescribe all this toxic crap to children? Appeasing lazy, disinterested parents and teachers? Pharmaceutical kickbacks? Repeat business? They're teaching our school children how to be drug addicts before they learn to read. It's disgusting.

Secondly, you need to understand that there is a difference between the "methamphetamine hydrocloride" used in the pharmaceutical industry, and the "crystal methamphetamine" cooked up in labs for recreational purposes. The crystallized version is much more concentrated, plus consumed in greater amounts.

Thirdly, you might be looking at this from a different perspective than I am. Are you trying to use the prescribing of these drugs to children to justify illegal drug use? Or are you trying to bring attention to the fact that doctors are poisoning our children with dangerous drugs?

Fourthly, would you ask "If heroin is so bad, why do doctors prescribe morphine to burn victims and cancer patients?" The relationship between morphine and heroin is basically the same as the relationship between methamphetamine hcl and crystal meth.

Did you read the entire article?
"Generally, the recommended uses of Desoxyn are similar to the other amphetamine-class stimulants (such as Adderall, Dexedrine or methylphenidate, for example). Because of the enhanced potency of methamphetamine hydrochloride over the aforementioned stimulant drugs, Desoxyn is often used as a "second-line" medication when the "first-line" (i.e., most commonly prescribed) medications have been found deficient."

Meth is only prescribed when other drugs have failed or have caused reactions in patients (alergies, etc.). Also the prescribed amount is usually only around 5mg. This hardly compares to the amount that a drug user would consume. The drug is highly addictive, which also leads to the consumption of larger amounts each time it is used. That is why it is so dangerous when not used in a controlled situation under doctor's care.

No doctors prescribe meth to anyone.

Meth is not a prescription drug.

I think you might have your 'Meths' mixed-up.

Methadone is prescribed by doctors to assist in pain relief and to wean people off of heroine addiction.

Crystal Meth and Methamphetamine are another story...
