I don't want to be a pushy parent, but I would like to see my children having a hobby, whatever it is they're interested in. I would like to know how to create that desire in them to have hobbies and how young can I start?
The hobbies I meant should not be watching TV, chatting, shopping or hanging out with friends, but something that's more productive that they enjoy.
Thank you so much!

I currently only have a one year old daughter, but planning to have more down the road. That's why I asked how young should I start instilling the idea of hobby to children. Thx

Good for you... Thinking and planning ahead.

I'm sending along a website that has really great ideas on hobbies for children and families.
The site is from HDTV, they are very informative and just a good wholesome family website.
ENJOY

You didn't emphasize the age of your children or if they are boys are girls....
What are their interests, have you asked? Please elaborate more.
If both, (male/female) perhaps they are old enough to start little league football, she could always be a cheerleader.
Karate is something they both can do.
There really is so much out there... you can even check at local churches, they have activities for children and you don't have to be a member. Also, there usually isn't a charge.

Sure kids have hobbies. What about model building, stamp or coin collecting? Get them interested in model trains. How about something artistic, such as jewelry making or woodworking. Give them some suggestions and see if they have an interest. Whatever they seem interested in, get them some books on the subject.

Take them to a craft store and tell them to pick something out. Micheals and A.C Moore have things that boys would enjoy like building models or cars, planes, etc. And also things a girl might like to learn such as knitting or scrapbooking. Also some of them have classes for kids where they learn how to make things like picture frames, holiday crafts. And they have other classes if your children are older like cake decorating.

Do they see you haveing hobbies? pick up paint by numbers, throw a baseball with them, knit, get a model, just ask them what interests them
