Man wants so desperately to distance themselves from cats, dogs, rats, snakes, leeches, cockroaches, etc that they'll do anything to do so. Look at how the upper class treats everyone under them and at how the lower-middle-class-yuppies treat everyone who doesn't drive an SUV or live in a cookie-cutter house in the suburbs. We're obsessed with "civilization" and its destroying us. Man was not created in God's image; God was created in man's image.

[Check out the thumbs-down I got for just giving an honest response! I must have hit a nerve with this one! Don't even get me started about mathematical probability.]
It is not the idea of being an animal that bothers me about evolution. It is the fact that evolution requires death in order for it to work. Survival of the fittest implies that inferior animals have to die, before they can get a chance to reproduce, in order to stop their genes from interfering with the progression of the species. Natural selection implies that some, by necessity, are not selected.
The apostle Paul seemed to say that death did not exist before sin came into the world. It is hard to understand how an amoeba could sin -- which would be necessary if the amoeba's offspring were to evolve into another life form (without sin, there cannot be death, and death of the unfit is necessary for "selection"). Evolution assumes that we started out as something similar to pond scum, and that we progressed upward toward humanity. The Bible implies that we started off as something just a little lower than the angels, and that we are de-evolving downward into something like pond scum (hence vestigial organs and genetic defects).
It is also hard to see how evolution does not violate the second law of thermodynamics. Saying that the second law only applies to closed systems, and that the Earth is not a closed system since we get heat from an external source (the sun) does not really help -- it only removes the problem father away. The universe as a whole is still a closed system, and the order has to come from somewhere.
You claim that you used to be a Christian, but with all due respect, your question imples that you do not understand Christians at all.

The Problem of Information for the Theory of Evolution:
Has Dawkins really solved it?
by Dr. Royal Truman
In a recent interview, Richard Dawkins, a fanatical atheist and a leading spokesman for Darwinian evolution, was asked if he could produce an example of a mutation or evolutionary process which led to an increase in information. Although this has been known for some time to be a significant issue, during a recorded interview, Dawkins was unable to offer any such example of a documented increase in information resulting from a mutation.
After some months, Professor Dawkins has offered an essay responding to this question in context with the interview, and it will be examined here. It is pointed out that speculation and selective use of data is no substitute for evidence. Since some statements are based on Thomas Bayes’ notion of information, this is evaluated in Part 2 and shown to be unconvincing. Some ideas are based on Claude Shannon’s work, and Part 3 shows this to be irrelevant to the controversy. The true issue, that of what coded information, such as found in DNA, human speech and the bee dance, is and how it could have arisen by chance, is simply ignored. Part 4 discusses the Werner Gitt theory of information.
After several years, we continue to request from the Darwinist theoreticians: propose a workable model and show convincing evidence for how coded information can arise by chance!

Not going to disagree with the fact that biologically we are nothing but animals. But even in the evolutionary sense we have long evolved away from being mere animals. (and i dont believe in evolution)
I am going to say that mankind is more than just some animal... We rationalize, actually think for ourselves and not follow some pre programed instincts. Create just for the sake of creating. This things didnt come with just inteligence alone. Those are the markings of a truly divergent creation.

I don't really see a problem with it. I think of myself as a Christain and if God created humans through evolution then that's God's business. We can still be in his image and be evolved. Or at least that's what I'm thinking. Just my idea.

I agree. My question is this: If we're not animals, then what are we? "Human" isn't a separate category from "animal"; the only people who claim that are the people who probably don't even know the definition of "animal" at all.
But honestly, human beings may be intelligent, but the way we act sometimes, I don't understand why people have a hard time believing that we're animals...

Because the bible clearly differentiates us from animals and anything else is blasphemy in their eyes. Some are more open minded than others but they seem to have become a minority. Also they believe that men have souls while animals do not, so they become terrified at the idea of their own mortality.

It doesn't offend me because I do not think it is even .0000000001 percent true. Offense usually carries some form of truth. Secondly, why is a now atheist still calling it "creature"? Creatures demand a creator.
Is it a subconscious slip?

because they are scared of the TRUTH. humans ARE animals, the most intelligent by far.
i love it how these religious wackos come here and say that they dont believe in evolution, etc etc. let me pose this question for you people then; would you rather believe in noahs ark? or any other RIDICULOUS fairy tales? please.
christians are brainwashed into worshipping magic. but it doesnt change teh FACT, THE TRUTH, that they are animals, and wen they die, they just die.

Dear dehbee, Im glad your thinking about these things, and someday if our hearts are right with the Lord, we will be able to hear all the answeres to our most difficult questions. But I would like to put this aside for a moment and ask you a few important questions.
Do you Consider yourself to be a good person?
here are a few questions......
Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; Have you ever hated someone? The BIble says in 1 John "he who hates his brother is a murderer." Have you always put God first and foremst in all you affections? (if you havent, you have broken the second of the ten Commandments, because if God wasnt first, something else ws and thats caled idolatry.)
Listen to your conscience, Nothing you’ve ever done is hid from His holy eyes. Will you be innocent or guilty on the Day of Judgment? Our consceince bears wittnes to our guilt, and if God is the Holy and Just Judge of all the universem he must give us Justice we deserve. the penalty for your sin is death and hell. That’s not God’s will. He provided a way for you and I to be forgiven.
He sent His Son to take our punishment: "God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He was bruised for our iniquities. Jesus then rose from the dead and defeated death.
Your own so-called “goodness” can’t get you into heaven any more than mine could. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the "Door," the only "mediator." There is salvation in no other name. if you will repent (forsake your sins) and put your full faith and trust in jesus as Lord and savior, God promises to grant you the gift of eternal life. Either this is true, or it isn't, I would simply ask that you chose carefully, because were not talking about vanity, but were talking about your eternal fate.
God Bless
