Anyone know if being of South Asian descent raises or lowers my risk of breast cancer?

I'm overweight (quite a lot actually - don't be mean), and maybe my bra is just sort of tight.... but I have been worrying lately since one of my co-workers (a beautiful and athletic girl of 28 who runs almost everyday) has had breast cancer surgery twice already! I am finally getting serious about my health now. I too used to be athletic in school, but you'd never guess that now, by looking at me... I also used to love to go to the bar to dance and feel hot! Anyway - I try to do self exams at night (obviously after I've taken my vice - I mean bra - off - and when I press the outside of my right breast under my armpit, I feel some soreness). I guess it's actually on both sides - do you think it's just because I'm way overweight, wearing my bra all day, etc.?

By the way, I'm 30 and have no children.

its not necessarily your race, it all depends on the dietary practices of the peoples of your region.. If you are the modern western raised type where you eat nothing but KFC, McDonalds and fast food then you are doomed. But if you eat the traditional home cooked rice, noodles, fresh fish, steamed veggies type of diet rich in the regions spices etc and get out and move around instead of sitting at home watching movies etc, then you will hopefully live a long healthy fullfilling life.

Just keep doing self-exam and plop those boobs down , get them squished and nuked by a professional x-ray screening once in a while.
Many lumps are benign, but you won't know it until you get screening. Don't sweat the small stuff.

If you are following the diets of the South Asians your risk should be lower, however if you have succumed to the American diet you may slightly increase your risk.
